Position: Counter Sales Rep / Production Operator II
Location: San Marcos, CA
Target Hourly Range: $20.00- $27.00 (DOE)

This position is a hybrid Inside Sales and Operator Production II Position with the break down being 50% working as an Inside Sales Representative and 50% as an Operator Production II Representative, Inside Sales' main responsibility will be to process front counter sales. This position is responsible for selling a variety of welding equipment, hard goods, power tools, safety supplies and industrial gases to customers. The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for providing top-notch assistance to customers in selecting the proper gases, welding hardgoods, and safety products. The associate will also perform the duties of a Production Operator Level II. These duties include loading and sorting cylinders, performing cylinder inspections, and filling both cryogenic and high pressure compressed gases.

• All duties and responsibilities shall be performed as set forth in established policies and procedures.
• Adhere to and assure compliance with the Code of Conduct/Handbook, policies and procedures and all applicable rules, regulations and standards promulgated by Federal, State and other applicable agencies or regulating bodies.
• Maintain a high level of customer service by assisting customers with will call, counter and telephone sales.
• Analyze and expedite customer orders in a timely manner. Meet customer needs by recommending appropriate products and services
• Enter sales data, quotes or other relevant information into inventory control system
• Assist manager in ordering appropriate merchandise to ensure stock remains at an acceptable level
• Restock store merchandize and maintain current pricing on all store displays and products
• Seek to expand existing customer base with all products lines
• Ensure customer inquiries related to accounts receivable billing issues, cylinder balances, order status, time of delivery, etc. are properly handled
• Adhere to all Airgas safety rules and regulations by proactively participating in identifying any safety and/or health hazards while in the workplace.
• Pull orders from warehouse as necessary
• Provide support to internal and external customers to maintain inventory and delivery needs
• Identify potential problems with cylinders and notify management in a timely manner.
• Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and comply with all federal, state, local and DOT regulations
• Collect, record transactions and submit all customer payments promptly to manager
• Qualified to fill high pressure and industrial gases, flammable, non-flammable, pure and cryogenic gases
• Complete daily fill logs, inventory logs and tracking records accurately and timely.
• Complete and attach warning and other identification tags, labels and decals on cylinder.
• Regularly inspect pumping and cylinder monitoring equipment
• Perform minor maintenance and inspection of cylinders and filling equipment as needed
• Comply with all Airgas safety rules and company policies
• Ensure proper and full time use of PPE.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Must lead within the Airgas culture - putting safety first.
• Safely operate forklift, hand-truck, pallet-jack, chain hoist, etc. to load/unload compressed and liquid industrial gas cylinders to and from delivery trucks to filling and storage areas.
• May load cylinders onto vehicles manually or with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Transfer plant cylinders to different areas within the facility using a forklift.
• Identify and sort cylinders for efficient refilling and handling.
• Report any equipment or facility defect(s) to supervisor.
• Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma
  • Knowledge of industrial gases, welding supply and hardware desired
  • Minimum two (2) years inside sales experience or customer service experience
  • Minimum of two (2) filling experience of High Pressure and Liquid Gases.
  • Experience operating a forklift is preferred
  • CDL Preferred but not required
  • Must consistently demonstrate the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service and communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to work in a team based environment
  • Must meet all physical qualification standards imposed by regulation for drivers.
  • Possess a commitment and desire to work safely and ethically
  • Random drug testing applies.
